RARE Double Dog Cat Head on a Horn Rattle Antique German Christmas Ornament 1920s

Very rare two sided animal head horn rattle ornament, one side a dog the other a cat. Circa 1920s, Germany. This is an amazing ornament featuring wonderful detail and quality that the Germans are known for, especially for the small size. The animal heads are blown within the silver horn which still retains its original whistle disk. The heads are 7/8” wide, the horn is 2 7/8” long. It is in excellent antique condition, free of chips or cracks with minimum wear. It still has a beautiful luster and shiny finish, the silvering still strong overall. The pike has some age related oxidation and wear, topped with a metal cap. This unique dog cat horn ornament is over 100 years old ornament and is very hard to find, a must-have for any figural ornament collection, a special gift for the animal lover! SIDE NOTE: A similar antique ornament is featured on page 147 in John Lightner’s Christmas Rarities- Rare Antique German Glass Ornaments, 2007 edition. It is titled, “Man’s Head on a Horn Rattle” with a rarity designation of R2. We believe this dog cat horn rattle would be a rarity R1, the rarest. Even Lightner doesn’t have this one!
